iVac Automated Dust Collection Systems for Woodshops

iVac Automated Dust Collection Systems for Hands-Free Shop Cleanup

iVac automated dust collection systems eliminate the need to manually switch your dust collector on and off between cuts. When you power up a connected power tool, the iVac system detects the current draw and automatically starts your dust collector — and shuts it off a few seconds after you stop the tool. The result is a cleaner shop, better dust extraction timing, and one less thing to think about at the bench.

iVac Switch Box vs. iVac Pro System

The iVac Switch Box is a plug-and-play solution for smaller shops. Plug your dust collector and one power tool into the box and you're done — no wiring required. It works with 115 VAC equipment rated at no more than 6 amps, making it ideal for shop vacs and single-tool setups.

The iVac Pro System is designed for larger shops running multiple power tools off one dust collector. The Pro System uses separate Pro Tool sensors and Pro Switch modules so you can mix and match tools and collectors operating at different voltages — 115 VAC or 240 VAC. If your dust collector motor draws more than 8 amps, you'll also need an iVac Contactor rated up to 10 hp to handle the load.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an iVac automated dust collection system?

An iVac system automatically starts your dust collector when it detects that a connected power tool has been turned on, then shuts the collector off after a brief delay when the tool stops. This hands-free approach improves dust capture timing and eliminates the need to manually operate your dust collector between cuts.

What is the difference between the iVac Switch Box and the iVac Pro System?

The iVac Switch Box is a plug-and-play unit for single-tool setups running on 115 VAC at no more than 6 amps. The iVac Pro System supports multiple tools and collectors running at different voltages — 115 VAC or 240 VAC — using separate Pro Tool sensor and Pro Switch modules for each circuit.

Does the iVac Switch Box work with 240-volt equipment?

No. The iVac Switch Box only supports 115 VAC equipment rated at 6 amps or less. For 240 VAC dust collectors or collectors drawing more than 6 amps, you need the iVac Pro System components.

When do I need an iVac Contactor?

You need an iVac Contactor if your dust collector motor draws more than 8 amps, regardless of voltage. The Contactor handles high-current loads and requires at least one 115 VAC Pro Switch to trigger it.

Can I use an iVac system with a table saw?

Yes. The iVac Pro System is compatible with table saws as long as you choose a Pro Tool sensor and Pro Switch rated for your saw's voltage and amperage. See our table saw accessories for complementary shop tools.

How many power tools can I connect to one iVac Pro System?

The iVac Pro System can handle multiple power tools served by a single dust collector. Each tool requires its own Pro Tool sensor, while the dust collector is controlled by a single Pro Switch — or a Contactor for high-draw motors.

Can the iVac Pro Remote control the dust collector manually?

Yes. The iVac Pro Remote gives you wireless manual control over your dust collector independently of the automatic tool-sensing trigger, useful when you want to run the collector without operating a power tool.

Do iVac systems work with automated blast gates?

Yes. The iVac Fully Automated Pro Blast Gate integrates with the Pro System to automatically open the blast gate at the active tool when dust collection starts, then close it when the tool stops — keeping suction focused where it is needed.

Is the iVac system difficult to install?

The iVac Switch Box requires no wiring — it is a plug-and-play outlet box. The iVac Pro System components are hardwired but follow standard electrical connections; a basic understanding of shop wiring is helpful. Visit our woodworking blog for setup guidance.
