Quick & Accurate Depth Stops For All Your Drill Bits!

Typical drill depth stops have set screws that are easy to cam out, don't always grip very well, or sit evenly on the bit. The unique two part, dual set screw design of our Universal Adjustable Drill Depth Stops addresses these shortcomings. All one needs to do is slide two halves of the depth stops slide over your bit to the desired stopping point. Then tighten each screw just until resistance is encountered, alternating back and forth until each screw is fully tightened. This ensures consistent grip and seating, even on bits with very large or oddly shaped flutes. No more accidentally overtightening to avoid slipping down or off the bit, or crooked seating. Plus, since these adjust to such a wide size range, you only have to keep track of one or two depth stops instead of a whole set for each size drill bit you own.

Features:
  • Fit nearly any type and size of bit from 1/8" to over 1/2"
    • 101-115 adjusts from 1/8" to just over 1/4"
    • 101-116 adjusts from just over 1/4" to just over 1/2"
  • Unique design makes set screw cam out a thing of the past
    • More secure grip on bits without over-tightening
    • Easier to seat square to the axis of the bit
  • Rounded bottom edges minimize marring your workpiece.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size drill bits do these depth stops fit?

They fit nearly any type and size of bit from 1/8" to over 1/2". The 101-115 stop adjusts from 1/8" to just over 1/4", and the 101-116 stop adjusts from just over 1/4" to just over 1/2". Browse compatible drill bits & drivers.

How does the dual set-screw design work?

The stop is made of two halves that slide over your bit. You tighten each screw just until it meets resistance, alternating back and forth until both are fully snug. This gives consistent grip and square seating without cam-out, even on bits with large or oddly shaped flutes.

Will these damage or mar my workpiece?

No. The depth stops have rounded bottom edges that minimize marring of your workpiece when the stop reaches the surface.

How many depth stops do I need for my drill bits?

Because each stop adjusts across such a wide size range, you only need one or two stops instead of a separate stop for every bit you own. Two stops cover the full 1/8" to over 1/2" range.

Why do typical drill depth stops slip or seat crooked?

Most single set-screw stops cam out easily, grip poorly, or sit unevenly on the bit. The two-part, dual set-screw design corrects all three issues so you no longer have to overtighten just to keep the stop from sliding off.

Can these be used on a drill press?

Yes. They work for setting repeatable depths whether you drill by hand or at the press. For more precise depth control at the press, browse our drill press accessories.

Do they work on bits with unusual flute shapes?

Yes. The alternating dual-screw tightening method ensures consistent grip and seating even on bits with very large or oddly shaped flutes, where ordinary stops tend to seat crooked.

How do I set the drilling depth?

Slide the two halves of the stop over your bit to the point where you want drilling to stop, then alternate tightening the two screws until both are snug. The bottom of the stop contacts the workpiece at your set depth.

Will I over-tighten and damage the bit?

No. Because you tighten only until resistance is met, there is no need to overtighten to keep the stop from slipping. This protects both the bit and the stop while still holding firmly.
